Happy 2016! Today’s episode is all about new beginnings — in fact, it’s a big picture guide to making film and TV as seen from the point of view of new starts. We’ve made over 100 hours of TV and film. Every second of those final projects exists because we’ve embraced…the art of starting.

A Series of Obstacles? Or an Art of Starting?

No one knows more than us (you know, those kids who started out of their one bedroom apartment, broke, with no connections to Hollywood?) how hard it can be to persevere through what seems like an insurmountable mountain of land mines when you want to start a new project.

It can seem like every project is fraught with more stop than go, and little hope of a smooth landing.

We get it. In fact, we’ve given ourselves a series of pep talks over the years, and we’ve learned to embrace the art of starting — seeing what others call obstacles as exciting new beginnings.

So it’s with glee in our hearts as a brand new year begins that we discuss:

  • What it really means to start a new project
  • The thrilling list of new beginnings you’ll face on every film or TV show you set out to make
  • The reason even after more than 100 hours of film and TV we still need to give ourselves pep talks
  • How we feel before every new film and TV series we launch
  • Why pre-production happens nowhere near the beginning of a new project
  • Why development is never over
  • And why Biagio is so darn loopy this episode

NOW… press that giant red “PLAY” button above and let’s celebrate the art of starting!
